Recommended tent camping near monterrey?

I am coming to the MBK derby and would like to camp Saturday night somewhere relatively close. Any locals want to help a landlocked rookie out?

Thanks that looks like the best place.  First come first serve though.  Seeing as I am coming in Sat morn, I don't want to risk not finding a spot.

FYI: Veterans Park has no physical address. I had to list down an address of the nearest house from the park entrance and saved it on my GPS.

I left a message inquiring about the group sites.  The recording said they would get back to me in 3 days. 

OK, i had a change of plans-If I were to arrive at Veterans Park at approx 4 this friday, do you think I would find a site?  I am coming a long way, and would like to have an idea of my chances.  Any input?  That said, if I do get a site, I would offer the other parking spot to a fellow NCKA member.  thanks and good fishing.

If the vet is full you can always go to Laguna Seca.  About 20 min. away.

I just learned thanks to a well informed ncka'er that the Moro GP is in Laguna seca this weekend.  I may just wait till mbk campings going to be hard to come by.

Anytime there's a big shindig going on at Monterey, the Veterans Camp ground get's full before the weekend. Last week they had a Rodeo and only a couple of sites left by noon on Friday.
