hey folks, in the SC mountains i was recently there for a family gathering in the woods. we went to a place that had lots of big trouts with black spots on them. can you tell me if its legal to fish these waters in the sc mountains? i cant seem to find freshwater rules from the dfg pertaining to these areas.

water was running, about 30 ft wide and about 1-2 feet deep of clear water and sandy bottom.

thanks,

john

The San Lorenzo? Restrictions are listed in the river section. i used to catch trout on the little river the Branciforte dr. is on; near De-La--Viega park and up the road. Lived on that road for about 3 years.

how do we get there?!  Cast first, ask questions later...j/k.  I know there's a small trout farm on the road to Loch Lomond in Felton.  Anyone have any further info on this place?

I'd love to hit it up, specially since gonna be in neighborhood saturday.

The park with the covered bridge is just that, Feltons covered bridge.  A state historic park. The river is the San Lorenzo.  The park is located at the intersections of Graham hill road, Mt. Hermon road and just up the road a bit is Hwy 9.  The Trout Farm is a resturant, I think it has a small casting pond for children.   If your hungry, go ahead make a trip, but don't go there expecting to fish.
There are a few ares of the river accessible by Hwy9  I know of from mtn biking the area.  One is called Rincon.  I guess it's a popular place for swimming, there is a small beach.

If they have a trout farm I have been away too long. Can't say about the spotted trout since you did not say where they were fished. the road to The loch is is under the road to mt hermon and reached by driving on Graham hill rd., but before the Roaring camp Railroad and before the hill. For new people just start at the shopping mall and head past the laft turn to Mt hermon and not 150 feet is another left(take that) and it will go under the Mt. Hermon road and just follow it to The lake. I don't know what the entry fee is.
