Natural bridges Santa Cruz fishing

Heading out there tomorrow with the family and I wanted to know if any of you fished the area before from a yak or surf( surf fishing ) any feedback and tip would be appreciated. Thanks

I think I heard it is an MPA area there near shore, but off shore you are ok. Check to confirm.

No surf fishing. It's a SMCA,  but you can still fish there as long as you're more than 200 feet offshore.

I fished up that way about a month ago.  I think the easiest launch is off of Mitchells Cove.  You just need to carry your kayak down some stairs.  Theres a little bit of swell in town so the surf launch might be a little difficult.  I caught one brown rock cod and a kelp greenling off of squid on a halibut rig in about 30fow out off of getchell street.

Got my days mixed up.  I work mon and tues.  off wednesday thursday friday and saturday if you are around to fish.

 I always see pb's fishing Mitchell's to the south of kelp line , to 60 fow , from the beginning of the kelp to the middle of the caves area. Also out at 70 or 80 fow , I never fished out there but I've fished a lot at the 50 60 foot area for rockfish and lings. Usually a higher proportion of underlings there.  There is an area of reef at 80' directly off Natural Bridges and a bit to the west where there is often Pb activity.
