....so I made a trip to Orchard supply last week to make an extra key made for my scooter. Their computerized key maker could not "read" the type of key I had so there goes that idea. I LOST the key the very next day  :BangHead: Marv / shicken advised me to see a locksmith to get a key made. Has anyone else done this?

I called the Vespa dealer in Santa Cruz about it....I was quoted around $300.00 to $400.00 bucks to get a key re-made and some necessary modifications to the scooter  :smt104

Careful Mooch. You might have to bite the bullet on this.My son lost his keys to his ford expedition in Tahoe. He had a lock smith make a key to get home and it  ruined his computer. His truck has never been the same.Several different mechanics have not been able to fix it.If you go with the  dealer it's on them.Sorry about the lost key. What a pain in the you know what.

Scooter??? Really??? Maybe you could do like the crackheads and get a blank and "shave"it,file it down, sand it till it fits and off you go. Just saying it might work and cost a lot less....Good luck! :smt044

That's what my buddy (who owns a car shop) told me as well.

Mooch, I am pretty sure there is a motorcyle salvage place in Rancho Cordova, maybe they have a switch with a key, just change out the switch and use the key that comes with it.
