Any one want to go for a Donnels run?

salt springs and melones parrrots ferry launch are other places I am considering if Donnels is too far/tough to get to for any one,

But as Holiday is mid week Its just too far to go see the parents. So if any one wants to hit any of those spots let me know.

FYI
Leeches are bad at nnNew Melones. Last two times I went anything that touched mud got covered in leeches! Never had one in my life but got them twice in a row. The jokes are still tiny too.
And you could hear me screaming a mile away as I was headed out for the door....

In a lifetime of wading in all sorts of water for fun and work I have never had a leech either. Two times in a row at two different parts of New Melones and I had leeches all over my feet, ankles and hands. If you stay on the paved roads when they go in to the water it seems fine. Touch the mud off to either side and walla LEECHES!!!! Disgusting but they seemed to scrape off easy enough. If you step in the mud check under your sandal straps and between your toes.....

Good luck. It's a fun lake and I fish it all the time but now I have another item on the check list that gets top priority. Check for leeches!  :smt003

Kokes were at 35'-50' the other day which is out of inline weight range. Got one on a downrigger but had no idea how long he was down there as he was not big enough to pop the DR release. Probably would have had a few more if I had not been dragging him around. After two or three passes through fish I'm going to start popping the line just to check the lure. The shuttle hawk did not work on my Spectra line on my hillbilly DR. Might have to go back to mono and just deal with the drag and noise. Anything is better than cranking that weight up repeatedly. Also much easier to keep moving forward and only let line out on one rod at a time with the shuttle hawk. Sorry for rambling.....
