Water inside paddle?

I have a bad habit of tossing my paddle in the water when diving (paddle leash) and consequently water has made it's way into two of my paddles.  Not sure how, but one side of each paddle now has some of the sea sloshing around.  Doesn't seem to want to drain no matter how I tilt it, so can't even figure where the intrusion point is.  Since it's the female side of the paddle, I'm assuming the plug as at fault, but no way to remove it.

Anyone have similar issues... and more importantly, a fix?

I punched a small pinhole in the plug to let out the water, gave it a day to dry and then siliconed the plug and let it settle in for a day. Seemed to work on my paddle.

I've considered doing this, but it won't solve the issue of where the water intrusion is occurring in the first place.
That's more of a concern to me, otherwise the water will just come back again.   

Fuzz, back in my AK yak rental days, we had this problem with a number of nice swift paddles. The intrusion point was simply water working its way around the little plug inside the paddle shaft (that is there to keep water from filling the shaft).
The only solution we found was what PaddleBoy84 did, a teeny hole and then a dab of resin or silicone. We never did find a good way to keep it from happening.

  to the kayak rental business. I agree that 90% of the time it comes in around the plug if left sitting in the water. If it came in at the blade it would drain out if you put the paddle blade side down and left it. Hope this helps. What kind of paddle are you using?

I had this same issue with the hobie paddle.  When I first bought the kayak (used), the paddle had a slushing sound on both sides and I couldn't figure out how to get it out.  I did notice that if I tilt it and shook it, I saw some water seeping out from where the paddle attaches to the shaft, but very lightly.  I laid the paddles down sideways and left it in the sunlight for a couple hours, came back and noticed a good amount of water was coming out through that area.   

Not sure if this is much help, but just thought it might be worth looking at that spot on the paddle.  Good luck.

Smoke's comments brought up an obvious solution - lay it in the sun so the air/water is leaked out.  That may be what happens when I toss it in the water... the cold water creates a vaccuum inside the paddle, sucking water in.

Paddleboy, I have 2 that have this issue - the most problematic is a CF Werner Camano... which I can't really access the plug because the 2-piece locking mechanism is in the way.  The other one I can clearly see the plug and will likely seal after drilling a drain hole.

Werner will most likely stand behind their product and fix it for you. I can check and see what they would do for a warranty.
