You can be my bodyguard :-) and I'll take care of your cost bro!  You can ride with us on Friday morning around 8am.  Planning to come back on Sunday.

Not sure where the boat leaves from, but Pepe's taqueria in Silverstrand beach has awesome taqueria fare (the home of the surfing taco!) We always stopped there when we left from the Ventura/Oxnard area.

I found this guy, Forrest Mize <[email protected]>who has boat that might be able to take us there.  I just emailed him.  Just thinking maybe we should start by scouting the area first by boat and get more intel from the local boatmen.

Just got this reply from Forrest Mize.  Sounds like he can accomodate us.  So who is game for this summer?

Rey,

I am a kayak fisherman too and I can take 4 guys with kayaks no problem.  I used to have a charter deal with Blue Sky outfitters until they got bought out by some Santa Barbara kayak company.  My boat works great for kayakers.  Let me know when you want to go and we'll set something up.

I'm down for a Fuji mother ship charter.  How about last week of August?  or week after Labor Day?

Rey, I used to do the overnight trips out of Port Hueneme years ago when I lived in Ventura.  We used to get limits of Calico and Sand Bass, as well as an occasional Halibut.  The fishing was always really productive off of the Channel Islands.  I don't remember the name of the boat we used to go out on but Port Hueneme is just a few miles from Oxnard. Fly lined live anchovies were the hot setup.

Martin thanks.  Did you see the WSB and Halibut fish count just for today?  Something like 50 WSB and 35 Halis!  I booked my overnight trip for this Friday so I'm hoping that the bite will still be hot.

Sounds like we got 2 so far interested in doing a charter.  Including me that is 3.  One more and we are max.  I'll check on what dates the captain has available in Jul and Aug.  The rate to charter is $600 which makes it $150 each if we max it to 4.  Tip not included yet of course.

The boat that was in Port Hueneme was the Mirage. No longer there its as CISCOS now same crew different harbor. Todays counts were insane saw some pictures some nice hali.

I may try and get out this weekend or next weekend. May wait for the next moon it should be even better IMO. This one is off the hook.

Hello Rey!  I sent you a PM.

The Mirage is my weapon of choice when doing an overnight on the islands here.
They got the world record halibut last year and are the best crew I have ever stood
at the rail with.
Say hello to Capt. Tucker and see Andrew for the best breakfast burritos and cheesburgers
in the world.
It is the only boat I fish standing up on at the islands.  :smt044
If I wasn't fishing fishing Mammoth this comming weekend, I would have joined you.
Cheers and good fishing!  :smt006

Hello Bob,

Thanks for the info.  Well, I'm going to have to try the Mirage some other time.  Sounds like an excellent boat and crew.  Only one going out this Friday night is the Ranger 85 and I just got the last slot.  I guess the bite is so hot that it sold out yesterday just after I got my reservation.  I come down there very often so I'll contact you again.  Have not gone kayak fishing there yet though.  Hopefully soon once I get more familiar with the waters around the area.

Have you kayak fish around the islands, like Santa Rosa or Anacapa?  If so, how did you get there?  Charter? PB?
