that sounds like a plan.  I'll plan on being there between 5:30 and 6.  I'll wait for someone to launch with since it'll be my first time there.  Suggestions on what to bring as far as catching fish goes?  Will live shiners work out there?

I'd say just keep it simple. The usual 2 shrimP flies rig with weight on bottom works good or swimbait with a shrimP fly 1-2ft above it is what most people use I believe. I would not bother too much with live bait. Rockfish will hit anything that gets in their face. I'll be there between those times also.

I've never seen a shrimp fly set up, can you link a picture of the rig?

Most shrimp fly rigs people use are pre-made.  Go to a tackle shop and get them.

Hey guys,
Just go between the green  buoy  and red buoy and look for structure.  I  have luck with a shrimp fly rig on a 4-6 ounce weight. I usually hook a sardine or squid on the shrimp flies. Go to the bait shop in the marina, they'll set you up.

Good luck!

Just drop shot two #4 hooks with squid.  You'll get some.

Herb,

Are you familar with the reef structure there?
What about crabbing areas?

becareful at the harbor entrance...we've had kayakers get swamed (and flipped over) by boat wakes.

I would also recomend that you have a fish finder when fishing between the green can and the rockwall / jetty. Depending on the tide, there are pinnacles that are barely visible. Your depth finder will tell you when your getting too close to the shallow reef line / pinnacles.

Good luck and be safe!

Antonio, no I am not familiar with the reef area there that's why I was hoping someone familiar would come with us. Like I said, I've only fished there from party boats and always headed far out. Crabbing-wise we went about half a mile from the harbor mouth, but didn't do that well. Well, Kevin(SquidderK)  did. I only brought one crab trap that time.

@ Ayaker, if you're bringing in squid don't bring too much unless you're using them for bait. You only need tiny strips to add to the shrimp flies for scent.

@Mooch, thanks for the heads up bro.

I just rode down and put my eyes on the ocean. Zero wind, slight swell, absolutely beautiful. Supposed to be
better tomorrow. I'll be putting in around 6:30, green kayak. I put in at the launch ramp. What people do not
know is the far left ramp is unusable to boats. Easy access, tie up and park. No fee because there is no trailer.
Not sure if my radio is working, I am trying to charge it.
