If the WX says 10-15 I probably wont load my yak :smt010

These AI guys would say different though lol  :smt044

I usually plan my outings by the wind on the hourly report. I would like to start paying attention to wind direction a little bit more  :smt002
I like to have fun.......

Depends how far I drove to get there.  :smt001

I've fished in 25+ but just to get some tacos for the campsite. Not very enjoyable or safe. When your paddle is getting pickud up and blown out of your lap it is time to head in.

I like to use the point and click link from coastide. It allows you to finetune your location and hopefully find something doable.

I agree with Fishadow that direction is as important as speed sometimes. Pedro point can protect you from a wicked south wind and Pigeon pt can protect you from a pretty strong north wind at times. (not the landlord though)  :smt009

Ideally I look for 5-10 mph and get excited when it's forecast to stay in the single digits all day.

since the wind will not lay the f@#k down here on the sonoma coast for the last 6 weeks, i am about to go all Lt. dan on mother mother ocean, and head out for a back alley street brawl on the next few precious hours i get off in the next 6 months, but other than that, it all depends on the swell, wind wave height and direction, but my go to is anything under a 15+knt will be a drive and see, anything over 15+knt for multiple days means heading to the garden to do some work and enjoy a few hoppy beverages and backgamon on the deck in the afternoon with the wife, cameron

It kind of depends on what you are fishing for but over 10 kt is my limit unless I am sailing, then 20 kt is my limit. White caps show at 11 kt (http://www.wrh.noaa.gov/pqr/info/pdf/beaufort.pdf)

With a mirage drive, 10-15 kt is doable, but again depends on what you are fishing for. Salmon, WSB, stripers and Halis you can fish in windy conditions but rockfish can be tough. At 15 kt it is hard to kelp tie.

Wind on the ocean if manageable is nice. It gives the swimbaits all the action that they need. Up to a point 5-10 knots is perfect. 15 sucks. At CL the wind can be frustrating at any speed.

I was at Lake alamanor last summer and the wind picked up while we were out there creating large wind waves with white caps. It was not much fun to fish, but nevertheless, it beat being home doing work. :smt001 I was thinking about 10kts is about it for me, maybe 15 if I am hard up.

I no longer even feel like going out if it's windy...unless I have a sail of course.

I haven't gone out on Yak yet as I'm still looking for my first one but in the meantime I'm trying to get familiar with all the safety measures. So I'm guessing single digit winds are good for beginners. Are there any websites anyone can recommend that has been giving accurate wind reports?

If the wind is going the same direction as the current, no problem. Opposing, it's all bad. I'll sturgeon fish in 10-15 all day. It gets nasty, but that's how it is. For all other species I like to keep it under 12.

if Ocean:5-10kts.....OR when the fog rolls in the night before and the NOAA says"dropping below 5kts after midnight".= can probably fish/stay out all day.

5-15kts usually means it will be doable until the wind picksup @ noon.

10-20 or anything higher than means go fly a kite.
