Attention delta bass slayers!!!

The Delta Club Classic will be coming up again on Sep 15, 2012. It's an annual bass tournament in the delta (out of Russo's marina) between clubs (any club) where each club comes out with 6 teams (2 anglers per team) to compete for fun and some prizes. Since last year, we extended the invitation to kayaks, float tubes, and pontoons and it would be awesome if we can gather 6 kayak teams this year.

Check out last year's results here: http://deltabassclub.com/id13.html

I'll have more info, rules, regs, etc... posted soon. Please let me know if anyone is interested. If we can get enough kayak anglers, I will fish as a kayak angler.

Will the kayaks be competing with the pb's if so we the yaks will be at adiadvantage.we will not be able to cover as much water
My biggest worry is that my wife(when I'm dead)will sell my fishing gear for what I said I paid for it

Vince, you're right about that problem. And some of these PB guys are very good too!!! I think there are some advantages for yaks though, that we need to exploit.

There are some event going on at Russo's and a few other marinas along that slough just about every week. Lots of fish are weighed-in and released along there. According to guys from bass-n-tubes (another club), some big fish can be found along that slough behind the marinas. The strategy is to find the bigger fish tucked away in tight spots that PBs can't get access to.

Also, you'll be surprised at how PBs don't always have as big advantage as it seems. The very fact that they can move around at their discretion is their weakness, they don't fish an area throughly and tend to move around too much. I'm also a PBer sometimes and am guilty of it too often.

2 weeks ago, I fished with bass-n-tubes guys in their monthly tournament for the first time. I didn't have a live-well so had to borrow a home-made fish basket from one of the guys. It was dragging me so much I couldn't move anywhere and had to stick to a small area around the launch. I learned some great lessons just fishing that area back and forth over a 5 hr period, how the fish stage and how you can catch them in changing conditions over and over again from the same areas, in some boat traffic, other tubers, etc...

BTW, bass-n-tubes guys are interested and will fish if they can gather 6 teams. I think they're actually the ones we need to worry about as we'll be really competing against them in the same areas!!!  :smt044

It costs $60/angler, I think it may be worth the try, especially for the delta rats among us.

Did you compete in a kayak or pontoon/float tube?

@Bones, I competed on my yak.

The rules/regs documents are up. It looks like this may be a no go for norcalyakers, not for just anyone who wants to fish because it reads:

"A CLUB team consists of 6 (six) boats. All club members must be from the same club and
in good standing (a member of the club for the last 6 (six) months). Each club needs to
list their top 12 (twelve) anglers based upon the club’s vote or point standing but send
your best."

I'm not sure how it can be worked out since this isn't officially a club.

Some of you who may be interested can contact the guys at bass-n-tube, they're assembling their team and may be able to bring you in.
