I think you will be trolling way too fast on a jet ski. To help you out, I will let you tow my kayak to slow you down to the perfect trolling speed. :smt003

Tim, the idle on my Jet Ski is run 2-3 mph. that should be good enough for trolling.  :smt002

Kiel

on some models you can adjust the reverse bucket assembly to partially deploy into the jet stream to slow it down for trolling DAMHIK

Yup!! you can do that too.

I came across a few sites that have tricked out skis with rocket launchers holding on to everything, bigger fuel tanks, and coolers hanging off of them.  It seems to be more popular on the east coast then here, and that makes sense as the jet stream flows south to north and the water is warmer.

Spent a number of years living in Florida so I've seen guys trolling ballyhoo behind their jet skis for Wahoo.  Pretty wild out there!

When you get ready to go with it let me know.  I just wonder how it would feel like fishing and sitting higher when a big swell comes rolling in.

I am way into this idea Kiel! The advantages are that they are cheap to buy and maintain compared to a skiff and you still get some decent range and fun factor.

You are still wearing a wetsuit and ready for immersion so the safety factor is high as long as you have a buddy or two.

Lots of guys put bait tanks and everything on their skis to make them like mini sportfishers.

I actually think it would be cool to fish with the yaks and the skis together.

Might be a good support/safety vessel for some of the tourneys like GMS also?

Keep us posted as you explore this!!!
