Took a 3hr solo safety class out of hmb kayak co. I have to say it was worth every penny of it. Dave was a very good instructor. We covered mostly surf land/launch, self rescue, and a bit of kayak surfing. I ended up getting catapulted by my yak while riding a wave :smt044. I really recomend this to anyone new at kayaking. It took me almost 2 years to finally do it. I learned a lot from this site, but a class is a whole different story.

Right on :smt023 I took the class there too. IMO, surfers beach is a great place to learn compared to the other locations. And the HMB Kayak Co. crew are true watermen.

Ya my buddy Chris Manchester runs that operation. I took his wilderness first aid class and loved every bit of it. (brace yourself for shameless self promotion) I teach kayaking intro, surf zone, and the rigging class that the late great Aron Hull once taught through Monterey bay kayaks. I'd really like to see more NorCal guys in my classes. We have a crack team of instructors and we will make kayakers of any level better paddlers and all around watermen/women.
we can't always catch fish, but we can piss our girlfriends and wives off every weekend we get a chance.
