Hi All,

The idea has been suggested to have gyotaku (aka fish printing) at GS6. Craig Davis had this activity at last years Albion Open and it was enjoyed by all who participated. So I told Eric 'I am on the task!' The idea is still developing so suggestions are definitely welcome!  (like where you would like to see this activity staged, etc)

Ultimately, we hope to have the basics available (ink, paper towels, a few blank shirts, paper).  Bringing your own blank shirt/material and/or paper is strongly encouraged.

I understand there are a few others who are interested in helping with materials and activity.  I have started to gather some materials (so far 10 - 1" brushes, 4 dark purple kids size shirts, one plastic table cloth, and a trash can to toss paper towels into) and will be looking for inks today.

Let's have some fun printing fish!!

Brandi - you're awesome!  Thank you so much for taking this on.  I hope to do a print at some point over the weekend, and I'm sure my kids will check it out, but thanks for understanding that I cannot be involved in the organization and process of it.  :smt001

Cool!!!!    :smt007

No problem Eric.  I think it will be a fun activity to integrate into your event.  I will need assistance to make this happen.  Who's interested in helping out?!  Don't be shy.

Sounds great Brandi!!

If I manage to shoot a fish up there (any fish of any kind, color, shape or size!!  :smt005) I think it would be great to remember it with a print.

This is my main goal at GS6: to shoot my first fish in Humboldt County...I'm gonna try my best, but obviously a lot will depend on the WX.

Looking forward to seeing you up there!

 :smt006

Sincerely,

Jim

its the real stuff....straight from japan. So we may want to use that after we practice a bit. I will dig up some cheapo stuff that we can use for play. It will just be some latex paint (in various colors and I can get some "butcher paper" rolls.

Awesome Eric!  Shall I count on you being our paper source then?

If white t-shirts were available at $5 a shirt, would you get one for your fish print?  With enough interest expressed in time to get them (please respond by Tues PM), we will have some available.  What do you all say?  Or would you prefer to bring your own?

Thanks!

Ill bring my own shirts a Salmon Tail on the back of a shirt would be sweet.
Is a light colored shirt best for this?
I am even thinking a sweatshirt if it would take to that thick of material.

Hi Ryan,

Light shirts/sweatshirts will definitely work.  I am hoping to have some light colored inks too for those who bring dark shirts.  Even then some of the color stands out nice on dark shirts.  Bring what ever color shirt you want to fish print on.  Working on having lots of paper available to practice print.
