I met up with my buddy Andy this morning at about 5:40 at the South boat ramp of Lake Mendo for a striper hunt. Not much happened near the boat ramp where I was, but Andy was on the South side of the island near the spillway at the dam. Andy saw several boils, but wasn't able to hook-up any striper. It may have been due to the guy in the Klamath who must have thought you are supposed to run the striper over when they boil.

I guess you can take the idiot out of the trailerpark, but you can't take the trailerpark out of the idiot.

Anyway, at about 7:30 Andy threw a hair razor and let it sink to the bottom between the boat ramp and the island. He started reeling in slowly and got a solid strike. He started getting spooled as he fought the striper for about 5 minutes. Then the striper ran out of gas and he landed him. It was nice one. We didn't have a scale, but I'd say 10 to 12 lbs.

I also saw Scwafish on the water. That cost me some money because I ordered a kayak from him. I can't wait until it comes in.

Here's a photo of Andy's striper.

CHEERS!

HULI KA!!!! Nice fish!

I can't wait to go back to Mendo :smt002 Gotta love a lake that has Stripers and small mouths  :smt007 If they had German Browns on this lake, I'd probably move into Jelly's tree house  :smt045 (Sean's backyard)

Well I was told by my wife to be at my son's school at 9 am sharp.  I was late, oh well he will get over it (she won't!).  The Striper left about a gallon of Striper milk in my boat. that dirty @%&*?!^.  I rushed home to put the picture on the web site since I'm a NEWBIE to this site, but Dan beat me to it. (thanks).

Back to the "Gas" boater guy.  He had no fishing etiquette at all.  He cut me off a few times, and shut the boils down fast.  He then made the comment "The fish are kinda finicky today huh".  I did not answer him.  I just visualized him and his boat on fire.  I felt better.

The only thing that would have made it a better day is if I would have caught the fish in my NEW XFACTOR (mango) that I got from Scawfish (GWKC).    It looks just like his, so if I don't answer to "Sean" try "Andy" or hey you.

looks like there is not enough room in that cockpit for your friend and his striper.

Well Danny Boy and I gave it another shot on Sat. 5/13.  I busted out the newest Xfactor in town.  It was her Maiden Voyage.  She was nice!!!!  Thanks GWKC.  Neither Dan or I got any hook ups.  We saw some boils but the motor heads beat us to them.  I ordered up a new Fish Finder and hope to get it in this week. I also copied SCWAFISH's kayak rack for my garage.  That's a great working PVC rack!!!!

I took the girls bluegill fishing and saw a HUGE boil at 530 pm near the mouth of the east branch.  It went for 5 minutes solid birds and all...no one fishing it.

Glad you like the new boat, the stands are mighty handy.  Let me know if you need any help with your ff.

Thanks for the offer.  I may take you up on it.  I need to pick up some of that (is it ) GOOP? so I can lay the wire down nice and tight. It doesn't need to be said, but this is getting ADDICTIVE!
