Didn't get much photos of the rest of the Dream Machines cause I did not want to pay the $20.00 entrance fee....so I shot pics from the fence line...

By the way, the SWAT Team was present. Apparently, they were out there to keep an eye out on the Hells Angels and the Mongols.

It was a nice day for a scooter ride  :smt045

      I got the opportunity to travel onboard a DC-3 several times.  Anchorage to  Dutch Harbor   and again years later into Mexico.      Really gives you a feel for what flying was like before the Jet era began.    Rolls Royce engines.
       Found this little bit of history;
Between 1935 and 1947 Douglas had built a total of 10,654 of the type and 63 years later (today) there are still almost a 1,000 in flying condition. What is more, some of these are still workhorses for Airlines and the military in various roles that one would still find hard to believe. Because of its continuing role in aviation and still competing with the modern Jet era, the DC-3 still has no true replacement and one can now assume that it is the most immortal plane of all time.

Today, the DC-3 is still finding its greatest use in specialized roles with some third world military forces and is commercially useful in some back country and bush areas particularly because of its operating costs, its ability to perform from rough fields and with its low maintenance, these are virtues to be considered ahead of the modern designs. So long as the airframes remain strong, (the DC-3 has never been faulted for its structural integrity to this day) there is no reason why this bird will not fly forever. There's an old saying.. "The only replacement for a DC-3 is another DC-3"

The traffic was surprisingly not bad at all. I didn't even know about the event. I took the Devils Slide route (North). But I did see the South Bound do a slow crawl. Better bet is to park on the Ocean side of the airport and ride your bicycle to the show.

Yup, there were some badass pilots going completely vertical. There were a lot of "go pro" moments  :smt045

Next year, I'd like to get a camp site at HMB State Beach and just ride to the show  - make a weekend of it :smt045

I got to ride in those from Cape Town to northern Namibia when I was playing army during the mid 80's. Seems like some of them were held together with duct tape and bailing wire. Bush operators loved them.
Mooch, I was in the harbor on friday and thought I had taken a Tardis trip back in time to the Battel of Britain.

When I was a youngster, my dad made me a P51 model with a motor in it, hung it, slapped a counterbalance on a stick so that it would fly around in a circle under my room light.  Had that thing for years before it busted and became a simple gathering dust on my shelf.  Have loved WWII planes ever since,...had no idea about dream machine thing in HMB or I prolly woulda gone and dragged my boy along and slap him silly until he gets it.  :smt044

No worries, they have it every year. They also feature hot rods and motorcycles ......mostly classics.
