More of a kayaking achievement: James (almost 6) is now strong enough and coordinated enough to paddle Jonathon (3.5 yrs old) around all by himself. Jonathon is taking first steps to paddling himself as well.

James is able to cast and hook bluegills on the fly rod by himself. Baaaarely...

I'd have liked to have caught 3 species of Cutts this year, but didn't get a shot at Rio Grande or Colorado, and Lahontan may just not happen. I'm trying to get Maggie interested in doing a full Cutt slam, on flies. Not a bad fishing goal, as in her words "They live in beautiful places".

I've added two more states in which I've caught fish: NV and WI.

Negatives: No salt as yet this year, and AK is on the bubble as well. But there's a little time left...

Scott

P.S. Just caught my first Northern on a fly rod last night. Little snot rocket of about 18" or so.

When I hear of a hot salmon bite, I make the effort to go even though it means I have to be there by some ungodly hour.  Waking up at 3am is just uncivilized.

Will keep you posted when the bite happens this spring. I got a few at Pot belly beach when the sardines or chovies are in. Pot belly is between New Brighton and the Cement ship. Flylining a dine is #1 choice. Got one trolling for butts off NB too.
