Has any one tried smoking fish with lemon or lime wood? I was just pruning the lime tree out back and and found the would has a weak but still identifiable citrus smell. This got my thinking about try it out in the smoker with some trout or ling cod. Any advice or warning would be greatly appreciated.

I've only used Alder and Apple so far for my fish.
Hickory way too strong.

My first question would be, is the wood green?  If it is I would not.  If it is good hard wood, then try it, you have nothing to lose.

I've never used lemon or lime wood, but my favorite lump charcoal is orange. The orange wood is not strong at all resulting in a very clean (no citrus flavor whatsover) and consistent smoke in my big green egg.

Cool thanks guys! Some of the wood is green so Ill hold off on using it for now. I might even throw some lime leaves into the coals for some of the smell Ive had the leaves before in thai food and their great. might have to bust out the smoker next week.
