Just like to thank Ricci and everybody for putting this event together!
I had a great time meeting everyone and look forward to the next one.

Who knows maybe we'll do a little better in the fish department.

Thanks Ricci, and all who made this tourney happen.  I had a blast even though I couldn't fool any salmonoids.  Congrats to Rob on the last minute bass kicker! Sounds like it was exciting.  I will definitely be a regular at berryessa salmon slams of the future.

Thanks again Ricci for hosting such a great event. Also thanks to all the companies/businesses who donated prizes. Last but not least thanks to VWool and Paddleboy84 for getting me into kayak fishing. I'll have pics up later.

Thanks Ricci.

Caught nothing and had a great time.  Agents failed me or maybe I failed to use them right.

Weather was awesome, chilling at camp and camaraderie continues to be unparalleled!

Arrived Saturday around noon and quickly setup camp then grabbed a cold one. It was HOT. Especially compared to foggy Marina. But that was the main incentive for my wife, Carrie...I promised her it wasn't a Storm Trooper event lol.

For me, it was a chance to revisit Lake Berryessa for the first time in a decade. I spent a lot of time fishing Berryessa as a kid because my grandparents had a place @ Spanish Flat since the 50s. Then my dad bought the lot next door and we built our own shoreside paradise. So many awesome memories. And I hadn't been back since my dad sold his place.
I was really curious to check out our old spot and see what the Bureau was doing. It would make a badass campsite one day, hopefully.
Right on Sunrise Pt across from Steele Park Resort.

I beached the yak and checked out our old site. It seems like they did a good job of tearing everything out.

I cracked a beer and walked around the area, remembering the good times with my family and especially my grandpa Duke.

Jumped back in the yak and paddled across the lake to see if my rope swing was still up. On the north side of the big cove across from Spanish Flat was an epic rope swing. I climbed 60ft up a tree and tied a rope on there when I was about 15--it was the perfect spot on a steep cliff with deep-enough water lol. Since then, the rope was replaced multiple times and it was cool to see a couple new ropes dangling from that branch.

I also saw a bald eagle back in that cove.

After spending most of my time reminiscing, I hustled back to the campsite because I promised Carrie I'd be back early to help with the kids...we had a rough night.
Here's the math: 2 adults + 1 baby + leaky air mattress = no sleep.
Each time one of us got up or rolled over, the baby would wake up. At one point, Carrie got back in bed and the mattress launched Rosie up into the air lol!
So no fish for me, except a tiny bass on a black crappie jig.

But the time spent was priceless! I'm sooo glad we came to BSS2. Big props to Ricci and crew. Thanks to all the sponsors too. I had fun.  :smt003

NIce to see you bring up the family Pat! It was great for my boys to have someone to goof around with! I hope they are coming up to Shelter and can continue to play together. Must have been pretty cool to go check out the old stomping grounds for sure. I finally paddled over there and was check out Spanish flats too . Not sure if it a viable campground in the summer yet but does have some nice spots for sure.

Sorry for the late post. Took a while for me to get over the weekend heat and Internet connection has been off and on. I had planned to take Allen Leepin's Pro Angler out for a test ride, despite an aching back...had my dry pants and wading shoes on all day Saturday. But the temp was just too hot for me (can't perspire anymore). So I just decided to help out on land wherever I could.
