Nice Martin those look great.

What type of plastisol are you using and what material for the mold? I've been going back and forth on making plastics and will make the jump soon. Also what length are they? Thanks.

They're 6 1/4".  I use Alumisol from Lure Craft.  The best way to buy it is by the gallon.  I only bought red, blue and yellow dye but with a little mixing, I've been able to get any colors I wanted including some iridescent rootbeer.  I also bought mold making rubber from them and made a model of a bait with polymer clay which I baked to harden and use to make my mold.  The mold works well but pouring one bait at a time is just too slow and too difficult in terms of heating the right amount of material, so I bought a 2 cavity mold from Lure Craft.  I heat the material in a microwave that I bought at Walmart for $39.97 and keep in the garage so the odor doesn't erode my WAF account.  They also have a product called heat stabilizer that allows you to reheat scraps or failed designs and remold them.

Martin,

Great job on those swim baits. I remember you telling me that you were making your own.

Smart idea about the microwave in the garage.

That reminds me I poured some 3 and 4 oz diamond jigs about 8 years ago that I never used. I need to go dig them up.

Good luck with those at GS6

I sold the Cobra about 4 years ago.  It was an NAF which is not a kit but a fiberglass bodied knock-off of the Shelby Cobra that was factory built in Arizona in the eighties.  Mine was modified with a big block and a nitrous bottle in the trunk.  It weighed about 2400 pounds and had 600+ HP with the nitrous.  I had it for about 5 years and luckily didn't kill myself in it.  It had a 4:11 rear end and a four speed and could continuously smoke the tires in all four gears.  It gave off so much heat that it was uncomfortable to drive in the heat of the summer, and being topless, it wasn't much of a winter car either.  It was definitely a "mid-life crisis" purchase with zero practicality, but fun while it lasted.  The only thing that remains is the license plate you saw on the wall of my garage.  Here's a picture of it parked in front of my house.

Sweet ride. Miss her much?

I have a 1996 convertible vett with exactly 16K miles on it. Still has the new car smell. Do the math 1k per year.

Stays in the garage blocking access to everything. As practical as a jet ski. But don't want to part with her.

It's on my wife's bucket list of things to get rid of first when I die.

Thanks Jed,
I'm gonna pour a few more to share with the team.  I think Andy's leadheads and these baits are gonna produce!  The freezer is almost empty, so it's time to get some. as Sledge would say.

Thanks for sharing the car, Martin.  I've always been fond of those little hotrods.  You were smart to get rid of it before it got rid of you!   :smt001

Martin that's a heck of a mid-life crisis you had there.  Bet you are still thinking about driving that cobra once in a while.  Those swim baits are going to help you catch some monster fish! Excellent work!
