2. Gotta love any type of cooking that involves a boat oar.

What an amazing meal, Jim!  I like the oar technique.

I do one a similar mudbug boil every year.  REALLY easy.  I can't really buy locally here in San Jose but have had good success ordering from lacrawfish.com.  Comes with everything you need, right to your door.

82 lbs is A LOT of crawfish

I'm pretty sure you can order/buy live crawdad's from Race St. Fish and Poultry in San Jose....its on Race St. :smt003  This is something I need to do.  Not want, need!  Damn that looks awesome!  Do you guys throw corn and sausage in there as well?  Whats in that bag?  What spices do you use in the water?  I know, I'm a pest with all my questions.  It looks so good!

Man I miss New Orleans. I was supposed to go in a week but plans changed. My friends are still going and I am jealous. Here is a pic of the boil the last time I was there.

Yeah, so, the video is actually only of the FIRST boil...we had to do all that twice to boil up all the crawfish.

One boil bag per boil that contained sausages, hotdogs, whole cloves of garlic, corn, mushrooms, carrots and new potatoes...in the water there was onions, lemons, and spices and stuff...don't ask me what kind cuz our neighbor Jay wouldn't show me.  :smt005

It was a heck of a lot of hot, sweaty work but luckily there was plenty of cold beer available.  :smt004

I got home Monday night and still feel like I am recovering.  :smt005

Can't wait to get back in the water out here.

Last time I shopped for bugs Race St. (like a mile from my house) quoted me $15/lb and a 1 week lead time on the order.  I love supporting local businesses but, unfortunately, it was just cost prohibitive in this case.  Also, they couldn't specify a count (size) or origin (Sac-town, LA, etc).

Race St. market is awesome though for fish.  Their dinner specials are good (they sell fish and chips). They also supply Dia de la Pesca on Bascom and Naglee/Taylor.  AWESOME scallop tacos there!
