Weather is looking decent for saturday which is also the salmon opener.  Keep your head on a swivel around the harbor entrance, should be alot of traffic comin through there.  Good Luck on the crab search.

..........agarcia is just an ex-kayaker

JT I will check into it.  Bring a rod  we may do some perching in the slack time. A post yesterday said they were catching them in 10-15 FOW.

Agarcia - Thanks for advice. Definitely don't want to be in the direct path of any PB's especially after seeing the Flybridge vs. Kayak post.

Kevin - Fishing for perch sounds good. I'll start preparing my fishing gear this week.

JT how far out of the harbor are you planning on going for crabs?

Antonio,

I'm going to head out anywhere between 1/4-1/2 a mile from the mouth of the jetties. Weather is looking pretty good so far. Hope you can make it out.

John,

Sounds tempting my only concern is the boat traffic. I was out there last Friday hanging around the opening of the harbor but never crossed over due to WX.
It was my first time out in quite a while.

I'm assuming that the old pier is the one with the old greenish looking building at the end of it. So what road leads to the old pier?

I will definitely consider.

Do you mind if a newbie tag along?? I wont be crabbing since I do not have any crabbing gears available. More like paddle with you and observe your tackle setup and such. I am down for some perching too.

Outside the harbor looked vicious last Friday.  Be careful if you venture out there and good luck with the fishing!

Conditions are looking good, slack tide is early.  Not sure if I will make it right now.  Saw GF's neice and nephew and now I have what ever they had.  Trying to shake it.

there are going to be a lot of powerboats for opening day. be careful with your traps near the harbor, they may get tangled in the boat props.

Thanks for the heads up. I usually try and stay clear of any boat traffic when setting my traps. I'll definitely set them up further away this Saturday.
