Stuck In new jersey for work :smt010 trying to do some trout fishing at a local lake. It's called lake wawayanda. Going to try to troll a dodger and worm? I don't think they do that out here?  Has anyone fished/trolled out here in NJ? Would appreciate any experienced input.  I will be out here for at least a nother couple of weeks, need my fix of fishing?! Can't wait to get back to NorCal!   :smt044

Hi Ken Jan,
Are you near the coast? The striper fishing should be starting to heat up, especially in the back bays and estuaries. Check out OntheWater.com

I just remember fishing for chain pickerel. Lots of fun and they bite in the winter.

Are you fishing for brook trout? Probably best to go slow and use smaller spinner blade rigs with a trailing worm.

Good luck!

Thanks guys, I knew there would be Bros out there that could help!
thanks Diroblo, mistralwind, jimgosc.  I will give it a try!
Going trolling and jigging on Friday16th at Lake Wawayanda.  Have to figure out the depth to troll at?
every day after work I've been on the site living through you all.
trying to find info on how to fish the lakes around here?  there are plenty of warm water species, (especially pesky sunfish) :smt013, however trout season is going to start soon.  I have a 10ft Jon boat with oars.   just purchased a few rod holders and a FF.  Want to get out on open water. The trout fishing isn't the same as back home. I heard live shiners work well positioned mid depth and off bottom with sliding bobber.  The lakes are small, and  shallow, at most 80 ft where I am ( Sussex county, Vernon)  and gets very warm.  The trout, mainly browns and brookies are stocked, they claim that some lakes are hold over lakes?
any more info would be gratefully appreciated.
counting the days to get back to cali, trying for the Bery SS :smt081

Ken

I think the Hudson River striper fishing is worth looking into. Manasquan Inlet (Pt. Pleasant) for offshore wreck fishing - sea bass, tautog, cod as well as winter flounder (fluke) fishing in the bays (Raritan).

If you type in Sussex County New Jersey fishing on YT there are some videos on trout fishing there (mostly stream). Good luck.

Make your way down to Helms Cove, NJ on the Delaware river near the Wilmington bridge. Fish with pile worms... the stripers are huge down there but this time of year, I believe it's catch and release only this time of year but I stress again....the stripers are TOADS!!
Shut up and FISH!
