I'm getting ready for the fishing season and I am going to install a Lowrence fish finder. I have looked around the web and there a few ways to install one, not sure which one is the best. I have a OK Prowler 13 and I am thinking of just gluing a piece of pool noodle bored out and installing the transducer in marine goop. What do you think.

I prefer goofing the foam puck to the hull, then setting the trans inside and adding a hand full of water before launching. However it really depends on what FF you got, i.e. I wouldn't goop down a $400+ FF set up, I would get a replacement through hull mount. But for a x4,x4 pro, mark 4, ect the gooped foam and splash of water will work just fine

After 3 years using the water "donut" method, I recently installed a new Garmin 400C and gooped the transducer to the inside of my hull.  I have only used it once so far but the screen images are very clean and I never need to worry about forgetting to put water in the donut.  Both methods seem to work OK but the gooped in transducer is just less hassle.

If it doesn't work out, a new transducer is only $69.  Cutting or drilling the hull is just too permanent!
