I set the hook on my first kayak ( OK Trident 13 Angler ) and beginning to gear up for ocean fishing. Theres lots of pdf choices for a kayak angler, Im thinking the Extrasport Eagle pdf could be a good choice.
Not a fan of auto co2 pdfs. I would like to hang a VHF/GPS Radio and a small dive knife to my vest.
Whats your thought on the best ocean angler pdf?

The one that fits you right

*since you will be on a sit-on-top kayak, make sure you get one with a mesh back*

One that you'll wear!  Your kayak doesn't need a PFD so why strap one to it?.    My  frist PFD was a 'Fishing Vest" style, and it was really uncomfortable, the shoulder pads ended up around my ears while sitting on my OB!   I have a stolquist(?) now. It's a lot more comfortable, having it's flotation up high, it doesn't interfer with the seat on my OB.

I like the quality on my Extrasport Sturgeon. Tons of storage in the four huge pockets.
Only drawback is the bulkiness but since I have a Hobie it's not as critical.

PFD I use a Astral Norge. Its made with organic Kapok which easily conforms to your body unlike standard foam.It comes with hand warmer pockets, knife park, reflective trim, and a cargo pocket. I use it for fishing, paddling, and even surfing the waves. I absolutely love it and have no complaints.
Here's a picture of it.

Dan from Headwaters Kayak let me try the green one and I ended up buying it, very comfortable, fits well, and does not end up moving around.  It has lots of spots to hang gear off of.  there are two pockets that zip open with room for more stuff.

That's the one I ended up with as well (Stohlquist fisherman).  Fits great and I don't even notice it anymore which means I always wear it. Funny thing is I keep exactly zero fishing gear in it, thought the pockets would be great for that but only keep my knife and whistle attached outside and a pair of paddling gloves, a snack and my Drivers license, fishing license, cell phone and maybe a little cash in a seal dry pouch clipped inside one pocket and a silva compass with a signal mirror attached in the other.  O yea and the car keys in that little zippered inner pocket.  Geez, anything else I am missing?

I think I am going to try and purchase one of the Stohlquist Fisherman. I have seen many people use them and they all like them. Plus they have the straps the keep the PFD from rising up.
