I have been doing a lot of night fishing and need a new headlamp, I did a forum search and couldn't find anything.
What do you guys recommend?

Another option would be a spotlight of some kind, if anyone has info on a setup they recommend that would be appreciated.

Thanks.

Petzl e+LITE if you don't need a powerful beam. The red light is great and it clips to a hat.

I just had my old one stolen out of my truck along with some other things, so I had to get a new one.  I found a website that rated them and it was helpful.  There are submersible ones out there Black Diamond Storm is one.  I ended up looking at the Petzl[s and finally bought a Black Diamond "Spot" Storm.  It was $39.95 at Sport Chalet.  Not submersible but is water resistant to some standard and puts out 90 lumens----very bright. Not bulky at all, has strobe and red light capability also.  So far I like it and will not keep it in my truck anymore.

I got one of these for my son he loves it, nice having the bright lite for finding your launch setting up camp etc. Lot of options with 5 bulbs not regulated but it's only $25

+1    For the price I got two of these recently and they work very good.
Single bright 75 lumen spot, power saving dual floods, or dual red NV's. And a dimming feature that works for all 3!
Keep one in my PFD for night ops and one in the truck for pre-dawn set up & after dark break down.

I use one I got at Costco for $15  it's made by Rayvac K2,  it doesn't have red light, but it's bright, (2 light settings hi & lo) and flashes.  The battery case has a red "Tail light" with seperate on/off.  I haven't seen them at Caosto for a while unfortunately.

I seen this headlight light up the ocean from on top of Pacifica pier(crabbing at night), Very impressive. Price to performance ratio is great. The only draw back the owner mentioned was " it took a month for  the light to arrive from China".

My advice is to find a headlamp that got the battery pack in the back not the one right behind the light. Battery pack w/ light is too heavy and uncomfortable. When you move your head down quickly, the light will align down that you will have to adjust again and again. Petzl is my #1 choice.

Think I am still going to get a Petzl as a back up. Thanks for all the advice guys.

Do any of the ones suggested tilt downward?  I've got a cheap one that does, but isn't very bright.  Prefer to be able too change the angle of the beam so I dont have to look straight down to see what i'm doing.
