So I talked to a few shops and now am more confused than ever.
My question was what do most wear under their freedive suit?
The response's rangeed from freeballing to bike shorts and a few liked the nut hammock.
So I ask you this, as I respect the voices of "most" of you here,
What Do You Wear Under Your Freedive Suit ?

Not an expert, but, Ijust transfered to the freedive suit, using the compression type short, i guess that like a bike short. The banana hammock scares me. I know some go with nothing, but for changing in public, the short works well for me. By the way, these suits are incredibly warm, I went from freezing, to feeling like I am diving in warm bath water :)

I asked the same question last week when I purchased my open cell suit.

I wear a speedo type swim suit.  Even tho it covers less than my underware, it makes changin out in public a bit more acceptable.  The fit of a freedive suit really works best with a minimal amout of fabric between you and it.  Nothing you put under it can add to the warmth it will provide, only make it less effective.

Truly less is more.

here let me add this

Nothing. I purchased an excel infinity dryloc suit last year in 5/4. It's more of a surfing suit but I dont plan on diving more than 20'. I wear nothing under it and I'm fine. Who cares about what the public sees.

I don't have a freedive suit, but I wear my board shorts inside my scuba suit...I have a bad habit of going straight from the water, to drinking a beer on the beach, to racing home...just pull the suit off, crack the beer, load my gear and I'm gone...I think there is a towel somewhere in my back seat.  :smt012

But yeah, if I piss in my suit while paddling back in I stink like ass when I get home.

This is what I wear under my suit. Sorry about the man-bulge in your face, but you asked!

It's rather inconsequential... however, if you paddle a lot, going commando & having too much lube in your suit causes your butt to slide around inside your suit.  For comps where I'm doing a ton of paddling, I tend to go for the underarmour boxerjocks (shorter inseam ones).

In the end, stick with anything that you feel comfortable in.  The underarmours are nice, but I've used boxers, briefs, speedos, etc.  Nowadays, I go commando more often than not.

Out of habit I wear speedos.  There are a few times I've forgotten them and go without, but didn't like it.  Don't know if it's the depth or what but I felt like my suit was giving me a constant wedgey.

But really right now I would suggest you get in the water as much as you can and pay attention to how everything feels.

Nada for me, changing in public isn't really an issue. Don't really like the idea of wearing anything I pissed in all the way home.

Thanks for all the info,
Picked up the UA on the way home,
Not that I mind going commando, just figured it best when having to change in public places.

I wear a banana hammock (Speedo type) and always change into a clean dry pair afterwards. This way I don't stink like ass when I get home.
