I am planning to add 2 flush mounts to my OK T13 close to the bow hatch area.
I've used the regular Scotty Flush Mounts that you need to twist and pull.
I came across the Locking Flush Mount with the lever on the side.
Wondering if it works better.
Thanks in advance!

For all Scotty post mount rod holders.

To use the new Scotty "lock-down" mount system, simply choose the best direction to fish from and insert the rod holder or accessory, pushing the post straight down into the mount.

Dimensions: 4” x 2” x 2”

Looks promising but fragile.  Eventhough the regular scotty lock is a PITA sometimes, this one looks like the tab might get moved when you didn't want it too or following murphy's law, no matter how low profile it is things will get caught on it and maybe even break it.

Still looks good,

I was thinking of the samething where things could catch the latch some how then break off. I guess we'll never until somebody reports a problem about it.

I don't have personal experience; but did check them out last year - I recall some negative reviews.  Think it was on Amazon.

It didn't look water tight to me when I looked at them.  I may have looked at it cross eyed, though.  :smt044

the lock down version is hollow down the center; too risky for me to install in my yaks.... water has an easy access into the hull....

I've mounted them on the accessory boards of my Pro Angler and use Scotty Orcas.  They work great for me but they require a large hole to be cut and water will enter if the cap is off.  It is more sturdy than the RAM rod holders that I also have.  When I'm using heavier salt water gear, the RAM system would slip and move when I got a bite.

Mine is not the flush mount but it's better than the lock-twist version.  You have to push the button(you can see it on the left side touching the rope) in order to pop loose the attachment.  http://www.norcalkayakanglers.com/index.php?action=post;topic=36324.0;last_msg=389405  Last picture.

Seems to me a few grains of sand in there would make it a total beotch to operate.

That would be a PIA.  Maybe flushing or flooding it with water might do the job.  To flood, you will have to flip the yak upside down to where water gets in the crevices, then to shake things up by pressing for turning on the knob to force some sand out.
