Dustin, Craig, Cam, you guys gonna come out and fish? I bet somebody's gonna catch a toad!  :smt007

Man, I wish I could, but I'm camping at Berryessa this week-end, then camping in Placerville the weekend of the 5th, then heading up to Shelter Cove the following Thursday.

In Loving Memory of Mooch, Eelmaster, Shicken, and Cabeza De Martillo

I started kayak fishing to get away from most of you...

How close is the nearest camping to yorty? Not really interested in boat in this time. Also don't want to make the 2.5-3 hour drive in the morning.
Dutcher Creek RV Park, http://www.winecountryrv.net/      I haven't checked it out in years, but it's only about 1.5 miles from entry road for Yorty Creek.

****We will launch from the Yorty Creek Boat Launch. There is a picnic area there too. If you are not camping, you will need to pick up a day use permit at the launch. You will take the Hot Springs Rd exit from Highway 101. It’s just south of Cloverdale.

There is no day use permit if you are just going to the picnic area at Yorty for the day, only a launch fee ($3) at the "Iron Ranger" box. If you have a U.S. Corp of Engineers annual pass you are covered for the launch.

The freeway exit is South Cloverdale Blvd., no signage for Hot Springs Rd. Between the Chevron and McDonalds, turn left on Treadway, right on Foothill, then left on Hot Springs Rd., about 3 miles of narrow winding road dead ends on the Yorty ramp.

Although all species can be found throughout the lake, guys going for largemouth, crappie and cats will probably want to launch at Yorty for better concentrations. Going for trout and smallmouth is better launching at the marina or main ramp for access to the main body in front of the dam. It's about a 7 mile paddle one way between the two access areas.

I may have to re-think that advice.......Sundays recon on Yorty produced so well on the trout, I didn't have much time left to chase bass

I did hear from several guys fishing for bass, several very large fish seen...and missed. Most were sight fishing the spawn beds.

All the permits are done! Tomorrow, I will be going over the final details of the tournament and potluck. I plan on having a fish fry / potluck the night of the tournament. It may be at the "paddle to" campsites or at the boat launch. I will fill you in all tomorrow. I will also follow up with a phone call to everyone too. Thanks again. Rusty Bowl is excited for our tournament!

Thanks Cap'n for the heads up on the RV camp at Cloverdale! Was going to stay in the Park but would rather be closer to Yorty. Got my reservation online for Friday and Saturday night. Hot Springs Road turns into Shady Lane pretty quick on Google maps.

If the fishfry/potluck is going to be held at the ramp/picnic area, you will need to claim your space early and hold it all day. The whole place was packed out last saturday afternoon and I expect the weekend weather to bring more of the same.

Dropped my registration off at the Ukiah store today. I will need a teammate (preferably someone interested in trolling for trout part of the day).

See you friday/saturday.
