I am so sick of not fishing my kayak beyond crab.  I talked to a kid and his gramps coming off the beach at Doran, they scored  big time on "pile worms" with perch over 12".  I used to sneak behind the surf in Malibu and whack shiners (walleye) and barred surf perch.  I never caught a redear though so I'm going to try the same thing out of Doran starting Wed or Thursday.  Also going to take a run at some sand dabs.  Company welcome.

How do you keep the pile worms on while casting?  Those things seem to fall off super easy.

Thanks!
Saltwater-Redtail
Freshwater-Redear...I should know that.

I just got a schedule conflict and won't be able to get out until Thursday unless I get lucky and then I'll be out both days..  Sorry if I miss anyone.
The high tide is for 11:50 am with a bit of a breeze that might not hit this beach as fast as the prediction.  I like bloodworms, muscles and sometimes use that cocoon silk thread for holding soft baits.  I haven't used pile worms yet and should mention that some of the Gulp baits work as well as live in my experience.  Better if you don't have the right cut bait.  I'll probably see how I do with shrimp too.

I am very interested. But the swells are suppose to be pretty big at Doran tomorrow. Is Doran protected?
