So the kayak seat that I have looks like it can be fine for short periods but seems like it can be uncomfortable during long periods on the water, especially pedaling.  Saw some youtube videos with people that put extra padding/cushion underneath the kayak seat, but couldn't figure out exactly what they were using.  Just wanted to see what all of you guys do in terms of extra padding on the seat for a more comfortable outing.  Any input is appreciated.  Thanks!

I have one of these.

You can pick one of these up for $12-$20, and it is inflatable.  The strap can be wrapped around the back of the seat to hold it in place.
On mine, I had my wife shorten the loop on one side so I could cinch it down tighter to the back of the seat.  It is amazingly comfortable for such a cheap price.

I got the same one from Amazon. It really makes a difference when your fishing for hours at a time.

I use a foam seat cushion made by harmony I think, its about 3/4" thick and has adhesive on the bottom. I stuck it to the seat base under my seat and it hasn't moved in a few years. even on the freeway.

thanks for all the input guys.  Those Skwoosh seats do look very nice, but a little out of my budget right now, but definitely will upgrade to one of these seats later when I can.  After checking out the reviews for the Allen Company inflatable seat suggested by INSAYN and Islandson671, I decided to go with that one.

Try hitting an army surplus place for a sleeping pad.  They are nothing more than a roll of foam padding.  Cut it to the size you want.  We used to buy them in the PX and cut them up for just about everything.  They were great for making Pads for the ALICE Packs.  Should not be more than $5-10 bucks, for a used one.

I have a high back seat that doesn't have much padding on the bottom at all. So I attached a HotSeat pad to my seat. They are adhesive and after 3+ years of the pad being stuck to my seat, it has never moved or started to peel off. http://www.surftosummit.com/hot-seat-kayak-seat-mild-p-1682.html?cPath=283_209
