Hit the lake this am at 0830 with Jelly and my co-worker Mike.  The weather started out funky but the sun came out and the water was glassy...

We marked a few fish were I had my last few hookups, but no love and just nothing special about it.  I saw some birds working Rocky Point, so we went that way.  Mike got drilled off of the BICG but it came unbottoned after a few minutes.

Marked LOTS of shad in front of Barn Cove.  We worked the area for a while and I finally hooked a 28 inch football.  This little guy was FAT...and leaking a little milt.  The pre-spawn is on!  I sent this little buck on his way to do his thing.

Paddled quite a ways, about 7 miles on the day.  Leah met us at the launch with a big shore launch.  The girls gleefully molested the rest of the bait in the tank, before releasing those too...What a day!

Nice man! That is a good sign for the SBA tourney right? Should be going full tilt by then.

Yes.  The timing for the SBA event seems ideal at the moment.

Nice job Sean. I thought that stripers didn't spawn at Mendo. I guess I got poor info.  I can't wait to get back there and nail some line sides.

They definitely spawn...not sure how successful it really is.  We occasionally catch a few little guys, but generally we fish with bait big enough to keep the tiny guys at bay.  Look forward to you returning.

Nice  :smt007 does the bait shop open any earlier with the new owner.
Who all is coming up to fish the tourney?
Anybody going to pre-fish on Friday?
Camping?

Hey, Sean. What is your tackle setup for striper fishing? Live bait or lure?

Live bait.  There is an article on the homepage about fishing Mendo.  The weather was nice...instant spring!

Very nice, Sean!

Fishing in shorts? I think the last time I fished in shorts was Bendo @ Mendo!

Hey scwafish, if the launch is at the south ramp; does anybody drive back up to the north ramp to fish. And does anybody have a site yet so parking a vehicle is not a concern?
