Keep in mind that there are not many mosquitoes or bears wandering around in the winter.  And if you camp at a park that has lake, and snow in a heated Yurt, you are set. Gorgeous, picturesque, warm, safe and just plain fun to play in the snow.  Snowshoeing, cross county skiing, snow ball fights, evening campfires with liquored up hot chocolate.  Good times!

I'm still workin on the truck but a 4wheel hookup at prosser is on my radar for next spring, porky's reports have me inspired!

Rollins lake is awesome as well boullards bar look em up!

I've been to Rollins lake (long ravine resort) a couple times now and its become an annual event.  I think it'd be safe to say that most of the peaceful serenity seekers of ncka would be pissed if they booked a stay there though.  The place can look like an overcrowded occupy camp with tents stacked on top of each other, the bathrooms aren't clean and the whole place turns into a party after dark. We stay at an isolated group site thats away from the madness and join the party at our leisure.

In the two hours or so I've spent fishing there though I was only able to pull one bluegill.....we find alternative ways to entertain ourselves...

as mentioned before, that trek out to Bowman can be fun too...

had a lot of fun getting to the very beckside of stampede in the late spring too.

Prosser has other campers, but both sites are fairly small, we always day trip it anyway and get our own beach at one of the 3 lakes, deeper you drive in, the better. watch that mud out there in spring, it swallows all trucks, drive in pairs, with long tow straps :) Learned that the hardway and had to walk 19 miles out at night.

Used to camp at Bowman, many years ago.  Beautiful lake, super clear water, was able to see bottom 40-50' deep, back then, very few people on the water ( I had my 12' aluminum boat then) caught kokanee.  Got to explore the mine shaft that was across from our camp site.

=+2 on what many have already said, the heated portable showers are your best bet. most lakes i see with showers suck and the fishing is not soo good. bullards is a jewel  and has great fishing. For me and my lady, the fishing has to be great first then comes the camp situation. we just jump in the water and shower like savages!

Spring is here .. and soon the snow and ice will melt up in the mountains.
One of my favorites is Alpine Lake off of Highway 4, just out of Angels Camp,
Murphy's, and Arnold (a mile or two from Bear Valley).
I've never seen a bear there, but, have seen plenty of Bald Eagles, Osprey,
and deer.
I've also caught lots of trout. Both Rainbow and Browns.  My buddy got an
8 pound brown there.  My biggest on the lake was a 28 inch rainbow.  Camp
sites are right on the lake if you're there soon enough, but, all are within sight
of the lake. There's a lodge with bar and restaurant and rooms there, too. And
the Bear Valley Ski complex is only about 5 miles away going towards  Arnold.
I'll be heading up there in the next few weeks and plan to make a few trips up
there this summer and ending with a week long trip over labor day.
In the summer the lake is warm enough to swim in and cold enough that the
trout love it.  I especially love it during a hatch trolling a wooly bugger or
little cleo.

Enjoy !

Hat Creek Resort. It's not a lake but there is riverside camping and you can rent a nice litle Yurt along the river. There are some nice native trout in that there river, oh yea and there is shower and bathroom, if u get the yurt there is a nice little cottage with the shower and toilet.
