Been looking for a small handheld for backup and kayak use.

Not trying to break the bank nor wallet here. Any Sub $150.00 options out there worth it? Anyone got a spare not in use they would like to off cheap?

LMK, seriously looking to buy prior to the meet this Sun.

Don't force me to pay retail at West Marine!  :smt010

1) go online and find a cheap one and see if West Marine sells it. If so.....
2) print a copy of the onlne shop where you found the deal
3) bring it to West Marine and they will match the price

Word. I am a price challenge/matching fool. Thanks for the heads up.

I plan to try Moffett Field and see if they have anything. I like not paying taxes.

Joel,

From any online store, (Not auction like ebay, I get that) does it have to be regional, or a know store? Or can it be any marine specialty like shop with an online store?

Found one at WM for $150.00 and same one online for $89.00...

definitely not ebay.

I was able to price match mine from an online store but I'd call WM first and find out for sure (rules may have changed)

Rules still the same.

Would have honord the 99dollar price I brought in had they had the model in stock. None in the warehouse either.

Anyone in Susalito willing to pick up and deliver if I pay via phone?

WM has the Cobra two pack on sale for $79. I went in today with a $15 reward cert, so I got them for $64.
That's $32 per radio. I already have a radio and plan to let my boys use these.

I used one of those for a while, Alfredo.  They need to be carefully maintained in their little dry pouches, batteries removed, terminals dried and dielectric greased after each use.

I wasn't good about that and now have a water proof one.....thank you Randy....... :smt008

Thanks for the maintenance advise. That's good to know. I'll do as you suggested.

I knew they would not be top quality for that price, but I won't be too disappointed if one happens to die or drop overboard. Just wanted a radio for my son to use while we are out. Hopefully we'll get a couple seasons use.

Just got mine today and it seems easy to program. Just hope I don't sink it somewhere. I bought the ni-cad set-up as not to incur the cost later. Even comes with a dry bag.

Just bought a shiny new Uniden tiny VHF.  Just like the Mooch's.  Maybe now I'll catch some fish.

Newbie here:  Why goop the mic port?  Isn't it waterproof?  Wouldn't that interfere with using the mic?  Thanks for the education.
