Hey all,

just in from Fort Bragg after a road trip to pick up an abalone taxidermy mount I had done by Ed Moore at Wildlife workshop in the harbor. Ed is the only person who does this type of work and he hit it out of the park on my mount. The detail is amazing and I just can't stop staring at it.   The abs are my two eleven inchers. The live mount is the giant from 1 May that went 11.055". The other is my 11.035" monster from 27 October.  Both abs were taken from my kayak in remote areas after long paddles. Yes, I am a lucky SOB.

If you have ever considered one, do it now. It is something truly one of a kind and Ed will work with you to create what you want. His Nor Cal  saltwater fish mounts are just as good as the abalone mounts, really. Haven't named the mount yet but will consider all submissions. Some ideas off the top of my head include:

"22" (11 inches x 2=22)

"twins"

" Giants on the rocks"

"double trouble"

"divers dream"

Beautiful!  I visited his shop in Ft Bragg years ago and admired his works.  Thanks for sharing the picture Shanon.  Below is the link to more of his art works:

Those are beauties!
How does he re-create the foot on the live mount?

I've seen the mounts at the shop in FB, too - absolutely incredible. If you don't mind me asking Shannon, what does a live mount like the one on the left cost?

That's a nice pair of big red ones you got there  :smt044, congrats, they look really cool.
Remember to practice safe knots, because big fish don't just break your line, they also break your heart.

Glad you all enjoyed the mount. This one was $480. He will make them as simple or as ornate as you like. Check the site and see some other mounts that are simpler and more fancy. A basic one ab small habitat mount is about 250.00.
