Fished this morning, LA Slider with a tip of squid.  Now I need to rush to work.

Was going to fish last night but work sucked me in till 11:00 pm.  Production issues.
After solving that problem, I was free to go a few hours before work.
Headed out in 6 inch surf.  Has anyone noticed the wave charts lately?  Last night from 5-8pm there was no height difference.
It was like there was no low tide.  Zero tide more likely.  Weird looking to say the least.

Took a wave over the bow.  Went to the fishing grounds in Malibu and fished.  I must have been in 30 different locations,
when MJ showed up.   Chatted a bit, when his line took off for a split second then nothing.
He looked at his jig and he found big teeth marks,  He felt it was a 30+ inch halibut.

10 minutes later and bendo!!!!!!!  Reeled him in.  No need to measure, once I saw him in the water I knew he was way over 22 inches.  Used my gaff correctly for the first time.  Used the game clip.  Cut his gills so he bled to death.
Brought him aboard.
Countinue fishing?  Nahhhh.  I never caught more than 1 halibut a day.  I like my fish fresh.  Hate to have it in the tank well all day in the hot sun, then bring him home.  Yuck!  I wouldn't want to eat that.  Did what I usually do, after the catch, head home.

Landed, took a pic of my tank well for Bluekayak and headed for home.

fine fish potto!

http://www.dfg.ca.gov/mrd/howold.pdf

I assume you can interpolate, but unless you have a jenny craig fish,
you got one well over 20 lbs assuming you measured right.

Potto

I've had 30lb+ halibut stowed cozily in either of my yaks
Plus on sunny days the fish'll be half cooked for you by the time you get it on land

Yeah I know, just giving you a hard time. :smt003 :smt003 :smt003
I would think, inside the kayak is hotter than outside in a gunny sack.
This may have to do with our location, weather, and conditions.
You may be right, if the water temp is at 55 degrees, then the hull would be pretty cool.
But on the other hand, inside can act like a car with the windows rolled up on a hot summer day.

Looks like we have a problem that needs to be solved by the MythBusters.
Better to store fish in tank well, or inside the hull?

I could have easily stored the fish inside the hull, but since the waves were at 6inches, I took the gamble
and decided not to.

Have you caught Pacific Halibut up there?
Tight Lines.

Nice looking butt!

Try grilled butt with grilled sourdough, tomatoes, onions, cilantro with chipotle sauce. Chipotle is common now, sold in a small can, dice up the chiles and mix with a spoonfull of mayo with lime juice, then salt and pepper. Its OUTSTANDING! Smoky and spicy. Love them smokin butts   :smt001

peace out, Adam

actually I had a pickup but got tired of helping people move and sold it

I have a too big of a pickup truck.  The Nissan Titan.  15.5 mpg on my way to San Diego.
Used to have the Honda Accord.  Accord too small and Titan too big.  Station wagon might be my next kayaking vehicle.
