Anyone know if this is edible (and legal to harvest) ?

Some of the guys who went crabbing at HMB today had a lot of these critters stuck on their traps....

I can't remember what they are called. I believe it was Hamachijohn that told me they were good.

My guess would be a Giant Western Nassa (Nassarius fossatus) but I have no clue if it is edible.

Mooch, it's one of my favorite sea snails.  If you want to try it, I'll post the recipe.

Abalone and moon snails are the two snails that have specific regulations, so the snail pictured would fall under general mollusk regulations. That would mean; You can only take them by hand or hook and line (can't keep them from your traps), and the limit is 35.

You could take them by hand..off the side of your trap!
