Hey Guy's I'll be doing my first Kayak flyfishing seminar of the year at Kiene's fly shop this Saturday. All the well know fly fishing  guys in ca will also be there.I'll have the Hobie Adventure and the Outback fully rigged on display. As well as a few other crafts. There will also be tying demos, so if you want to learn how to tie bucktail nows the time.
If all that's not enough, there's FREE FOOD.

Why Do I paddle a kayak instead of a float tube or a pontoon boat? I like seeing where I'm going not where I've been!
Paddle safe and wrap'em tight.

I am close to pulling the trigger on a new Adventure.  Would appreciate any rigging or equipment ideas.  Have been following several forum discussions here and elswhere on the point.  Sorry to hear about the health issues; I wish you a quick and full recovery.

Other than install my fish finder  off to the side  so the peddles wouldn't block my view of it I didn't do anything special. I have a Scotty triple rod holder that I bolted down to the bottom of my My fishing crate. I can strap it down nice and tight with the strap provided. The adventure comes rigged pretty well for conventional  rods. I keep my fly rods in my crate , oh yeah I did put my anchor sytem on it .I'll get some pictures soon.

Hey do you ever fish above Pine Flat Lake?  I love the Kings River up there,  I used to live down in Pismo Beach so that was the closest wild trout water I could find.  Never fished the Kern but no need with the Kings.  Ive seen some huge brown's in there as well.   cant wait for the runoff to end..  maybe July or so..  Ill be heading up to the Upper Sac, Pit, Mccloud, maybe over to the middle fork of the feather.    miss it mucho!

I  guide on the Lower Kings from time to time. I fish Pine Flats every chance I get.
Pine Flat is what I call a smorgasbord. If you know where to go you can catch LM and small mouth, spotted bass as well as brown and rainbow trout. It's my favorite Mountain lake.

Never fished there but it is mid-distance between me and a good buddy; we always thought to meet there to fish.  In general (GPS coordinates optional) where would one find the bass versus trout?  From the map I would guess main lake for bass and up the river for trout, but any more specific tips?  When do you begin guiding at Pine Flat this year?  Thanks.

I dont know about the browns rickey un-less you go way way up river i dont think I have ever heard of a brown comeing out of the lake it just gets too hot.   every so often they plant king salmon witch are a blast to catch.  My biggest from the lake is 24"  bass fishing mostly in the coves. target any kind of structure like rocks or willow trees.  right now they are rite on the bank I went wensday and i caught them on sencos.  Trout can be anywere in the lake from the dam to the river And i have caught them everywere in between find the balls of shad and you find the trout.

Your right about the browns Patrick my boy, they are up river but not that far, I haven't caught one in years.
And it's which not witch. A witch is an ugly old lady that flies around on a broom.
