I just had my Avet serviced a few a months ago or so for the first time. I've only used it a few times last year but I figured it is better to have a good working reel ready when needed. The problem I have now is that the reel feels sluggish like there is something inside keeping it from winding smoothly. Any of you folks ever experienced this with this reel? I love this Avet for the fact that it is small and holds a lot of line.

Where did you have it serviced?  Does it freespool fine still?  What is the drag set at?

I would bring it back to the service place and ask them to check it out.

The free spool is OK and the drag pressure is at 5lbs. I've actually played with it a while thinking perhaps the drag was too tight but it is still has the heavy friction feel to it. Sonny, it is the guy next to Benicia Bait and Tackle that does reel repairs and rod building.

How many times have you used it since it was serviced?  Was it ok right after servicing?

I'd bring it back and ask Todd to check it out.  I'm sure he'll make it right.

The reel has not been used since after the service. I may just take it back to him to have it check out and make sure everything is OK. I feared that if I took it out and happened to catch a big one, the last thing I want on my mind is the reel not being able to perform under pressure. Not that I'll ever catch anything big but you
just never know. :smt003

Too much grease? Does it feel like it's full of mud?

When I purchased my avet sx about a year ago the one thing they told me to never do was adjust the drag in strike mode... the reel must be in freespool to adjust the drag.  I wonder if this is part of the problem.
