got this email last night.....Pretty gnarly if it's not faked!

This was sent to me last night by a friend who is a friend of professional photographer Paul Schraub. Taken off of Santa Cruz yesterday afternoon. If I was the guy in the dingy, I would be all like WTF !

This came in from Paul Schraub a few hours ago.

I was doing some shots for the Visitors promotional office...people

This is un cropped, no photoshop....3 hours ago!

So, if it *IS* real... What time did your "friend" receive this email, exactly?  It was a pretty warm day yesterday, but I still am not buying the guy wearing shorts and just a PFD.  And if that happened, wouldn't you be backstroking rather than forward paddling???  Are there other pics??  That does look like the SC area though... :smt003

it doesn't look to scale. 6 foot person/10ft yak looks like 5 lengths to match just the head. That would put the head alone at 30-40+ feet. Don't HB wales get to be about 50 ft....seems off to me

there is a guy I see all the time down at the harbor who paddles a green OK yak and doesnt wear a wetsuit.  Not saying that is the same guy but they look alike.  He often stands and uses his yak like a SUP.  So that part of the story checks out.  Poor bastard, just got him busted for violating some marine mammal disturbance  :smt003

Nah not the same guy.  that guy (my daughter and wife call him "Tarzan," not to be confused with Guitarzan) usually just stand-up paddles his yak up and down the harbor wearing a thong.  (no kidding).  Kook.

Al, don't you think the 'scale' is off in this pic as well?  Look at the birds and the size of th whales, the guy looks too small....

Some of the harbor Rats throw rocks at him (not that I wold EVER condone that sort of behavior).

I will admit to (in the old days) to confronting the occasional nude sunbather while I was surfing Privates, letting them know I don't go to the beach to see their equipment. "Put on your suit or leave."
