OK, so here it is! Im very confused on this subject and the regs dont spell it out in my language. ( Dumbass).... My understanding is that if I catch A bag of rockfish say 5 blacks and 5 blues which total ten rockfish ( DUH )... That as im swiming in and spot two legal lings and shoot, my understanding is that now I will be two over limit! Right? Somebody has called me out on this one so Im asking for clarification on this... Im I right or wrong?...Thanks guys! :smt009

Geez, you are making me doubt myself but I think that lings do not count toward your 10 fish limit.

Well, first you would have to actually SEE a ling while your out there diving  :smt044

BUT!

Rockfish:
The daily bag and possession limit is 10 fish in combination of all species within the RCG Complex (includes all species of Rockfish, Cabezon and Greenlings) per person, with a sub-limit on bocaccio (2 per person, minimum size limit of 10 inches total length, also included in the 10 fish RCG Complex aggregate limit). Yelloweye rockfish, canary rockfish, bronzespotted rockfish, and cowcod may not be retained (bag limit: zero).

Lingcod
The recreational fishery for lingcod (Ophiodon elongatus) is open year-round to divers2 and shore-based anglers. The fishery is open to boat-based anglers from March 1, 2011 through December 31, 2011  (see important NOTE at the end of this section). Lingcod may only be taken or possessed3 in waters less than 360 feet (30 fathoms) deep*. The daily bag and possession limit is 2 fish, with a minimum size limit of 22 inches total length.

EDIT:
So I think Andy is right wrong! :smt005  :smt003  I dont see the usual tag saying "Lingcod are part of the RCG Complex"

Yeah, once I looked into the dgf site, it looks to me like lings do count as part of the RCG limit, but it is not clear.
I'm not sure where i got the notion that lings didn't count. I haven't kept 10 fish in many years so i haven't kept up on the limit regs.

I love you bro, but you're wrong.

I can shoot 7 rock fish and 3 cabs(for my RCG 10) and then 2 lings on top of that, and then go home and die and go to heaven.

Andy,

Please note the diagram I have attached below.

The Horizontal red line clearly shows the diffference between RCG Complex and Lingcod.
