Finally got 'em today!   :smt001  My dad went with and I let him use my Scrambler XT--I used my Mainstream Tango, tandem.  What a barge!  I had my challenges due to that boat, but we got our fish.  He got his limit in about 30 minutes of trolling near the bell (about a mile out).  He went in and I had to hang out about 2 more hours to get mine.  I had a few on that I didn't get in--one due to having to mess with getting the net ready...  It felt good to set him up with the better boat though.  He's a long-time fisherman and even commercially fished salmon from a dory out of Humboldt Bay in the early 70's, so he knows his stuff and showed it today.  His first fish was about 12# and it was towing him around as I tried to come alongside, grab his net and assist.  I netted it and we were stoked.  20 pulls with a deep six, flasher and double-hook chovie rig.  20 pulls!!!  I'm sorry; not trying to rub it in, but I hear you guys talking of the deep fish down there right now and I feel very lucky to be able to get fish that shallow.  Anyway, he went on to get about a 6-7#er before going in.  I scratched and scratched--didn't lose gear today, but missed about 4-5 fish before getting my first in, and it was only around 5-6 #.  Picked up another, barely legal--around 4#, and headed in.  It was 70 degrees on the beach and we had a few cold brews in the cooler, but I spaced on the fish photos...  What a relief it was to finally bring some fish home after 3 trips down there this year, fish-on but not landed each trip.  I had my ab gear in the truck, but it was not a good day for diving--mud water and swells nearshore...

Good eye, Stuart!  I was enjoying Sierra's cousin, Steelhead!  Sierra Nevada's my favorite, Fishunter!  My treat if we hook up!  I wanted to post more photos of on the water and such, but my dial-up was too slow, so it kept cancelling my new upload due to a new reply arriving...  I'll post some photos tonight.

At one point I hooked up with a large blue rockfish - I looked down through what must've been at least 40' viz at about 1.5 miles from shore and there were fish everywhere!

My dad told me his nice one turned out to be 11# gilled and gutted--he took it to Mr. Fish to smoke.  I won't blow it on the fish photos next time!   :smt012
