correct me if I'm wrong but is Rock fish season closed in Albion on that date (for hook and line) ?

Fishing from the shore and/or rocks is opened year-round. A kayak trip to offshore formations or hard to access rocks can be very productive.

I was always wondering wha tthe laws were for that. Can you fish off any rock formations that you paddle up to?

No, you can't. I remember seeing it in a DFG Q&A.

When DFG rolls up on you just as you are landing with a nice stringer of rockies what are you going to tell them, and do you think they'll buy it?

Hmm, that's funny, I was told by Carrie Wilson that it was allowed. Do you remember when the Q7A about this was posted?

Ha! Figures. I'm pretty sure it was Carrie that put out those Q&As.

I don't think it was posted here. I think it was posted on PFIC. I'll try to dig it up.

But think about my question posted above and how you really think that situation would turn out.

Hmm, I see your point, it could get dicey - maybe if you had pictures from the rock they would be placated.

Andy, Jim: I'll be up in the Sonoma Coast with my gf and her siblings/friends to celebrate my gf's birthday that weekend.

I may be able to leave early Sunday morning to hookup for a quick ab dive if y'all are planning for a an early dive. I gotta make sure that I make it to work later that day. Hope to make a dive again with y'all!! :D

The Shore based rules are very clear if you paddle out to a rock, island or even down the beach you are in violation

Quote
Also, when angling from shore during a boat-based closure, no vessel or watercraft may be used to assist in taking or possessing species included in this table. The following definitions describe boat-based and shore-based anglers, and divers:

Boat-based anglers are fishermen angling from boats or vessels of any size or any other type of floating object, including kayaks and float tubes.
Shore-based anglers are fishermen angling from beaches, banks, piers, jetties, breakwaters, docks and other manmade structures connected to the shore
Group IQ is inversely proportional to the size of the group.

Sounds good Dan!!

Look for us in site B2 on Sunday morning!!

I know I will be itching to get in the water earlyish on Saturday...I haven't been in the water in like 2 weeks and by next weekend will be in full withdrawl mode.

If you come looking and don't see me, paddle out into the cove and you will find my blue T15 out there.

 :smt003

Sunrise is at 740 and high tide is at 1:00PM, so I imagine I will be paddling out around 8ish and diving until I am exhausted.

Sincerely,

Jim
