Why does it have to be a G-Loomis?

The Shimano Trevala is a well-liked, sturdy rod.  I purchased two back in July and so far am very pleased.

Shimano is great too, just looking to add to my collection. My wife said why do you need all this fishing pole and my response is " why do you need to buy a couple of purse or bag a month???" :smt002

Gino bro, you must have deep pockets. :smt005 :smt005 Yeah with me having the sickness of buying two of everything, I have to limit myself in the mid range
prizes on things. :smt003 I must say though that the Trevala are nice and light too. You'll see pretty much everybody on the water will have this rod. No recommendation here on the G-Loomis bro. Too high for me to even take a peak at it. :smt001

It is a complete waste of money to buy a Loomis rod to fish for rockfish, halis or WSB unless you will be casting live bait or artificials which most don't. In addition they are no longer made in the USA. If you want a nice rod, get a Calstar, Seeker, or Lamiglas and save money. I do own Loomis rods but their advantage is casting light weights. Just my 2 cents.

I sorta agree that they are overkill but so is most of the stuff we buy, but overall I love fishing with them they just have a great feel.

Didn't know that they were now being made overseas this article on a Factory Tour says they are all still made here.

It speaks volumes for the G.Loomis brand and Shimano that these rods are true to their tradition and each and every G.Loomis rod is built in Woodland, right where the company started.

Pretty cool article http://tackletour.com/reviewgloomisfactory.html
