Anyone ever convert a trail 90 to trail 110?  I am considering it.

Not sure if this question was for me or not.  90 to 110 lower end stays the same, barrell rod and piston gets changed out, but head stays the same?

the reason i asked that Bushy

is in my kawasaki bikes all engines from 73-80 in the 900cc-1000cc are bolt and go swaps

as are many makes of bikes,the only kicker being any electrical plug ins that come off the engine itself,charging
stuff mostly....if the plug in stuff swaps...

carburetor jetting may need a bump ,but, may not even matter and run just fine...exhaust port and pipe bolts should be the same too...

imho

thanks Craig.

yeah I have a guy up the street that is a 70-90-110 NUT. RAces those mini trail 70's haha.  Apparently there's a bunch of guys into that.

he's going to bump it up for me on the cheap.  so, barrels and pistons all Im planning on. Though maybe rods as well if the stroke changes?

Swapping out to a 110 original is bolt off bolt on to the best of my knowledge, but $$$$.

okay I'm off...your gonna put a piston kit into it...sure that makes sense...the only thing I know  there...on aircooled bikes is some can run 'thin' when guys put bigger slugs into them and run out of cylinder wall thickness
common on big kawis...guys want to say they have 1200-1300...sounds good...but it eats it's own butt at stoplights  overheating

sorry to give answers where none were needed..

No no all comments appreciated........

I think I'd be OK, cause I can get a new cylinder as well as piston and rod.....

and then maybe a custom straight-through exhaust pipe.

everything you ever wanted to know about the Honda Trail bikes, you'll find here;
http://hondatrailcts.yuku.com/directory#.UlXwV1NA-Kx

Every part you'll ever need to buy for your Honda Trail bike, you'll find here;
http://dratv.com/

In a nutshell;
Honda increased the CC size in order to offset the emissions controls required back in the day.  The 110's were no more powerful than the 90's, they were punched out just to keep up.  I don't think you'll find many folks on that forum that will disagree with that overview.

Also, Honda Trail 110's are still being built today.  The Australian mail carriers use them quite extensively and they are called 'Posties'.  They quit importing them into the USA because our smog laws were just getting too restrictive.  After all, a motor bike that gets 100mpg is just not environmentally friendly!

If you do a complete motor swap, the 90's were 6volt systems, the 110's 12volt.  If you just swap out the barrel and piston, you might be o.k....

Ways to treat those over blown motors, external oil coolers, synthetic oil, ceramic coating the exhaust helps out greatly with a lot of the overheating issues.  Many HD riders went htis way with the old iron head/iron cylinder sporsters and shovelheads.

sure ..many big kawis have those things done too,air cooled bikes and big pistons need help

I have a Pops Yoshimura 1015cc slipper piston( two rings instead of three and cut away skirts on the high dome pistons) kit waiting to go into my 900cc kz...supertrapp header smoothbores and a new 3 angle head job will be a nice small street engine that will be plenty quick...most guys in the east and midwest on the kz sites want 1198 or even bigger...all straight roads out that way,the only turns they have have stop signs  :smt003...
