the salmon mooching is just a shot in the dark :smt072 I also plan to do some live bait on the rockpile

But I will tell you everytime I pass under the gate I allways mark lots of fish at the 80 foot mark so I thought
I would give it a try :smt004 going to bring some heavy sinkers prob up to 16oz just to get down that deep

the tides don't look to bad could be better but what the hell at least I will have a front row seat for a great show  :smt007

The boat wakes on the bay are going to be a real bitch Duane. Be safe Bro.  I like the idea. Would Aquatic Park be better?

yes I know it will be bad out there, even with the warm weather I plan to have my drysuit on just in-case it gets real ugly. I plan to get the big fishing done
in the morning so I can stay out of the middle of the bay where it will be nasty, just going to hang out front of the harbor for the show, better than on the shore where it will be packed going to pull in at noon to have lunch and grab some beers then head back out.

as for the launch going to do north tower.

I think that sounds fun Duane. If I go, I'll walk out to Yellow bluff to see if it's possible to paddle back out around if I let the tide take me in around it. CCK has a class there where you can get behind the point in the back eddy and then go out and surf during big ebbs in the fall and spring. That eddy would be a fine place to sit in your boat and watch. 'Course sitting on the rock would be good too. Peeing from your boat might be easier though.
There is some serious structure there. I know a guy that targets 7-gills there (teamfishfinder.com). He tags 'em and lets 'em go. I bet this rain will trigger the salmon straglers to swim through the gate. Paddle out of the cove up to the north tower and drift in mooching sounds great. I bet that lot fills up for fleet week. And I bet it is empty early.

Did you see Monkeyface Kirk on that TV show last year? He took the host to that Horseshoe Cove breakwater and caught a bunch of MF eels. So you could do that too. That same episode, the host went out with the shark guy I mentioned on my earlier post. They tagged a bunch of lepards and kept one for the dinner finaly.  I probably couldn't go to fish either day anyway since I usually get stuck with my one year old.
But we like to take walks so we might go there anyway. I've only been to Yellow Bluff by boat, but I've seen people fish off of it. And we can walk out to the fishing pier. When I was a kid people used to fish off the jettys in the mouth of the Columbia River. They used big bobbers and cut plug herring. Sometimes I wonder if that would work off that pier.
I think the conditions will be fine. Just watch for strong rips when the tide is moving fast.

I'll give it a shot since I don't want to drive too far and want to watch the fleet week show.  Sent a PM to you Duane for some questions about launch location.
