Well since it's cold just about everywhere, I wanted to warm you guys up a bit with a bit of sunshine and hard fighting foes.  It is true we have some great fishing down here in the southern part of our state of California, but at times I am jealous hearing about all of the donkey class seabass and halibut.  However, we have one particular species that you rarely see that would make all of crazy like me if you had the same opportunity as myself.

The yellowtail is a kick ass, hard nosed fighter.  They strike with reckless abandon, and rip line with whatever strength they have.  The taste is pretty good, but in comparison to the goodies you guys frequent catching it is hard to get a nod for the yellow's meat.  Regardless they are the most fun to catch.  Here's a piece of action that I recorded a few weeks back.  Come on down and experience a different fishery with me, Kevin Nakada, owner of Sea Samurai fishing guide service.  See you all later!

I hired Kevin earlier this month and he got me hooked on my first YT!  Dude's got a ton of knowledge and experience.  And with a surface iron, Kevin is an assasin.  Trying to get out there again for lesson #2.

They're always around.  Just got to know where to look.  Last year was great in December and so was the year before, but November was definitely the winter month last year.  Although this coming month is looking really promising. :smt002

I had seen your vid before and just loved it. You said they were made of aluminum. I have some scrap pieces around so I thought I would try to make a couple. What is the weight of the ones you are throwing? Road Trip!

Always nice to hear of YT yak fishing down south (I'm from Santa Barbara area originally).
After the elusive striped bass, the YT will be on my "to catch" list.

Hamachi is one of my favorite eating fish, I think it just needs to be babies like tuna to retain its special flavor. Too long out in the sun and it deteriorates fast.

The weather is pretty good right now and the water just cleared up.  Conditions like these give the best chances for tails.  Right now it's all about getting some sunshine.  Hopefully by the time you head on down the magic starts to happen.
