Chuwy4,
Bring you positive vibe personality the rest will follow
I would recommend rockfish rigs jigs etc, also you need wet suit
In venturing out in open sea, list all what have and we will chime in what else you need, I can bring my wetsuit if you fit 57 ... Let me know thanks

sign ups day before for tourney...only thing your late on is shirts/hoodies that needed pre orders...

main thing is cold water submersion=wetsuit, VHF very important...I wear mine around my neck...have been knocked off my yak before...if I hadn't preformed a self rescue and if I'd been separated from my yak...I had chance to call for help...buddy system when your new is important anything can happen and does...and buddy system all the time is the funniest!!!  Fishin with your bros is the only way to roll!!!  :smt044 :smt044 :smt044  flares, mirror, horn, whistle, gps, compus...list goes on and on... better prepared for the worst case scenario I would say...  Have fun be safe... and go out and "Get SOME"
It's all about Today!!! Because who knows what tomorrow will bring... so Better get OTW n GetSome

My advice is to rent a wetsuit and practice self rescue before you hit the salt.
A wetsuit is very restrictive. It can be a bit overwhelming for some being so restricted in your movement. At the very least try one on in a rental shop so you know what you are in for.
There are plenty of threads on this site about safety equipment and how you should dress for cold water immersion.
Have you fished in the ocean before??

Tote is right.  If you don't have a place you go to for dive supplies, I would recommend Steele's on telegraph in Oakland for a rental wetsuit.   They usually have enough wet suits to go around,  and the pricing is the best.   Check their schedule before going.
