For reasons too difficult to explain I found myself fishing at Cabrillo Beach on the inside in the late afternoon again.  I had intended to go to King Harbor but .. things didn't turn out that way.  :smt009

It was overcast, relatively cool, wind from the SW.  Not many people there for a Saturday.  I was OTW at about 5 pm and fished until 7 pm.  I used a white scampi with a little strip of smelly dead squid .   I caught countless lizard fish and dinner -- a 13.5" barred sand bass.   It's not much, but my, was it tasty!   :smt003

Right on Dave!! It's great to see that you're making it out otw, even if it's only for couple hrs!! Still haven't been able to bring my yak down south with me, it's been hard to find any extra time the past couple months.

I'm stoked that you got to take that fish home for dinner, wtg Dave! :D

That's the way to do it right Dave. Why go to a fish market when you can catch fresh fish for dinner. :smt003

I'd really intended to go to King Harbor and try to find the Redondo canyon with my new FF. (on the outside of the harbor) But I haven't purchased a handheld VHF radio yet.  (a MUST DO   :smt009 ) .. and as I was driving over something flakey started happening with AT&T cell reception (it vanished). .. apparently 900 towers went down in LA yesterday afternoon right when I intended to get OTW.  So after spending some time in the ATT store (in my swimsuit with kayak on top of car  :smt005  ) I finally decided that it was better to go to Cabrillo on the inside with my remaining daylight, where I have three life guard stations watching me, waving at me, and asking me what I caught when I get out.    :smt044
