I'm going to be camping up at Mac Arthur Burney Falls campground for a few days with the GF, I might get out on Lake Britton just to the north of the campground,

Anybody have an info on that lake, not looking to get serious just fool around for a few hours.

Writeups I've seen say it has allot on SMB and Crappie.

One of my sons and I favorites place due to the scenery. We always see bald eagles, osprey, sometimes otters and even the mt. lion eariler this year. We catch lots of crappie and a few sm using small jigs. Stick with white or yellows and fish near cover. Best time is early morn or evening. Do not be afraid to fish/jig deeper for the bigger ones. Sometimes you can find crappie boiling toward dark. Now that is fun to watch. Sometimes in the day you can see hundreds and they just do not want anything. Most crappie are small; however, if you do a good filet you can make dinner. It is a little cooler than Redding so beating the heat is always good. Use sunscreen as the mt. sun gets you everytime. Good luck! :smt006

Thanks, this will be my first camping trip away from the salt in years, really looking forward to exploring the area, my uncle had a farm up in Adin (about 50yrs ago) and that was the last time I was in the area.

X2 to Dave's post.  Don't overlook Baum Lake which is only about 10 minutes away.  Beautiful area, I was up there on Friday for work.

Yeah it's pretty tough, and then I had to work from my office in Mt. Shasta for the rest of the day!!!  A real killer.  And don't get me started on the traffic, had to stop for two groups of deer along the way.  :smt003

Forgot to mention the the bald eagles, bears, bobcats, and sunsets...just to rub a little more salt in it...  :smt003

Can't wait to see the report.  My dad and I tournament bass fish and most of the stuff we make is for bass.  I posted this recently but I would throw a med brown and purple jig with a purple yamamoto grub.  Also a normans 16 crawdad pattern crank bait rocks.  A sure way to catch smallies is to drag a hand pour plastic crawdad or green and reddish four inch worm.   Good luck Dale

Well,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,as much as I hate to admit it the gear never got wet, I was too interested in eating and relaxing for the time we were there, the Falls are spectacular and should be a destination for everone at least once,

Thanks for the advice though it was appreciated and now I have t for next time,

Thanks, checked out some pics of the falls and lake.  Looks like a great place to bring the wife and kids and get a little fishing in.

I just drove through on the way back from a wedding in Reno. The lake looks like its in excellent condition.... Not filled with algae like last year...
