Dove Tahoe in the afternoon. South Lake out of tallac beach. Not ideal structure for dads but the wife and friends wanted a beach to play on so my dive choice got trumped :). Lots of sand with small patches of little rocks. Every so often I'd come across a larger rock that stood out amongst the smaller ones. This is where the crawdads would cluster. Got a decent few handfuls after about an hr. Vis was 25-30. Mostly diving 15-20 deep. Vis was poor for tahoe stds apparently but rocked compared to dives on cencal/norcal coast this time of year. Saw no fish (except little babies). I had a small trout pole with me in the event I saw a trout I could dangle powerbait in front of its face :). Picked up a golf ball and a pair of sunglasses. Had a stupid jetskier buzz me on purpose (I was within the 5mph zone with yellow banks board and prominent dive flag). Came right at me and turned within yards... So look out for terds on the water... other than that I had a great time experiencing some of Tahoe's underwater world. Would definitely do it again and scout out some more gamey areas. Good times!

Boiled then sauted in garlic butter after deveining etc. Makes a great appetizer! Next time I think I'll throw the tails in a pasta for a meal and use the leftover garlic butter on some bread... getting hungry now...

Did the same thing with some friends at Fallen Leaf lake. We just set two traps overnight and came back to full traps. We even let some go that we had so much.

Did ya bite off the heads and suck the juice out - the kids love that show!  Caught a 13" trout off the pier at Agate Bay/North Shore a few years ago and it's gut was stuffed with crawdads, including one it had just eaten.  Haven't heard of anyone using them for bait though...

Nice work! I've only dove Tahoe once for crawdads. I spent 90% of my time diving 20-30 feet for about 20 crawdads. Then as I headed at the end of my dive I stumbled upon craw heaven and nabbed 50+ in a few minutes in about 3-4 feet of water next to a dock.  :smt003
